(Meluva)

Privacy Policy — Meluva
Last updated: [date]
Who we are. Meluva ("the App", "we") is operated by [business name / full name], [address], Israel. Privacy questions: support@meluva.app.
What the App does. Meluva lets parents and their daughters/children in one family share location, receive "I'm OK" check-in prompts at times the parents set, and get alerts when a check-in is missed, when someone arrives at or leaves a place, and when an SOS is sent.
1. Data we collect
| Data | From whom | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Phone number | Parents | Sign-in (SMS code) |
| Name, optional profile photo | Parents and children | Display within the family |
| Child's age band (under 13 / 13+) | Entered by the parent | Age-appropriate consent |
| Precise location, accuracy, speed, time | The child's device (and a parent's, if they choose to share) | Show location to the family, place alerts, attach to check-ins and SOS |
| Battery level, charging state, permission status | The child's device | "Last seen" and alerts when the phone cannot be reached |
| Check-in schedules, places (name, point, radius), check-in responses, alerts and acknowledgements | The family | Operating the service |
| Push tokens (APNs/FCM), device model, OS version, time zone, language | All users | Notifications and operations |
| Subscription status | The paying parent | Enabling plan features. Apple handles payment; we never see payment details |
| Consent records (version, time, who consented) | Parent / child | Legal record of consent |
We do not collect: contacts, messages, device content, recordings (this version), advertising or marketing tracking. The App contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
Location is "data of special sensitivity" under Israel's Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981 (as amended by Amendment 13), and we treat it accordingly.
2. Legal basis and consent
- Use is based on informed consent. The parent consents at sign-up. The child sees a consent screen on her own device explaining what is shared, with whom and when, and can always view "what my parents see".
- Minors: for children under 13, consent is given by the parent/guardian when creating the child profile and is recorded. A child aged 13+ confirms herself in addition to the parent.
- Providing data is voluntary, but the service cannot work without location and notifications. Permissions can be revoked at any time in device settings.
3. How we use data
Operating the App (map, check-ins, alerts, SOS), security and abuse prevention, support, subscription management, legal compliance. We do not sell data and do not use it for advertising.
4. Who we share data with
- Family members in the App (parents and children of the same family) — this is the service itself.
- Processors acting on our behalf: Google Firebase (authentication, database, functions, notifications; EU servers), Apple (notifications, purchases, TestFlight), RevenueCat (subscription management; user ID and subscription state only). All under data-processing agreements.
- Authorities — only where the law requires.
- International transfers go to providers under adequate safeguards (EU / US with contractual commitments).
5. Retention
- Last location: while the account is active. Location history: 24 hours (Basic) or 30 days (Premium), then deleted automatically.
- Check-ins and alerts: 90 days.
- Account data: until account deletion, available in-app (Settings → Delete account), completed within 30 days except what the law requires us to keep.
6. Security
Encrypted transport (TLS), family- and role-based access rules, protected keys, limited and logged administrative access, in line with Israel's Protection of Privacy Regulations (Data Security), 5777-2017. No system is perfectly secure; in the event of a serious security incident we will notify the authority and affected users as required.
7. Your rights
Access (section 13 of the Law), correction or deletion (section 14), withdrawal of consent, and export of your family's data. Contact support@meluva.app; we respond within 30 days. You may also contact the Israeli Privacy Protection Authority.
8. Children
The service is intended for parents and is used by children only with parental consent and supervision. A child profile is created only by a parent; the child is not asked for a phone number or other identifying details.
9. Changes
We may update this policy and will notify you in the App of material changes. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
